Information about WordPerfect(WPD), MS-Word(DOC) and Adobe Acrobat(PDF).

WordPerfect(WPD) format

A full-featured word processing program from Corel. It is a sophisticated program that has been widely used on many platforms since its inception on the IBM PC in 1982. Under its original developer, WordPerfect became the leading word processor in the late 1980s. The company and product was acquired by Novell and later by Corel.

MS-Word(DOC) format

A full-featured word processing program  from Microsoft. It is a sophisticated program with rudimentary desktop publishing capabilities that has become the most widely-used word processing application on the market. The first versions of Word came out under DOS and provided both graphics-based and text-based interfaces for working with a document.

PDF format

Document exchange software from Adobe that allows documents created on one  platform to be displayed and printed exactly the same on another no matter  which fonts are installed in the computer. The fonts are embedded within the         Acrobat document, which is known as a PDF (Portable Document Format) file,     thus eliminating the requirement that the target machine contain the same fonts.   The PDF Writer in Acrobat turns most DOS, Windows, UNIX and Mac documents to the PDF format by taking the print stream and converting it.
