Lapse in Federal Appropriations October 17, 2025 
The Court will remain open and continue all excepted activities pursuant to the Anti-Deficiency Act, 31 U.S.C. § 1341-1342 and the Guide to Judiciary Policy when Judiciary funding lapses at midnight, October 17, 2025.

Reduced Clerk's Office Hours 
Due to the government shutdown, the public service hours of the Clerk's Office are reduced as follows: 

Brooklyn
Monday through Friday, 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Central Islip
9:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Attorney Admissions Ceremonies
Attorney admissions ceremonies have been suspended due to the government shutdown. Bar applications will continue to be accepted through PACER. Admissions applications will be processed by court staff without the necessity of a personal appearance by the applicants and sponsoring attorneys

Notice to Vendors and Contractors

As a result of the current lapse in appropriations/government shutdown, beginning Monday, October 20, 2025, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York (District Court) will be unable to make invoice payments until such time as funding is restored.  The District Court anticipates that vendor services will continue uninterrupted throughout the duration of the shutdown and will resume payment for goods and services received immediately upon the passage of budget legislation or a continuing resolution is enacted by Congress.
