Attorney Admissions
Attorneys may apply for regular admission to the Eastern District of New York, or may apply for pro hac vice admission on a particular case in whole or in part. Please see the individual instructions below for the type of admission you seek.
All petitions for admission must be processed through PACER. Please follow the below instructions regarding requirements and then go to pacer.uscourts.gov to apply for admission.
Regular Attorney Admission
All applications for admission must be submitted on pacer.uscourts.gov.
Option One: Attorneys in Good Standing in one of the following
‣State of New York
‣U.S. District Court of Connecticut and the State of Connecticut
‣U.S. District Court of Vermont and the State of Vermont
Documents You Will Need:
1. Certificates of Good Standing
‣One for each state in which you are admitted
‣Certificates must have been issued within 30 days of filing the application
2. Petition for Attorney Admission*
3. Sponsoring Affidavit* of an attorney admitted to this Court who has known you for at least one year
What to Do:
1. Save all your certificates of good standing as one PDF. Save your petition and sponsoring affidavit as a second PDF.
2. Log into pacer.uscourts.gov.
‣Go to Manage My Account, Maintenance, Attorney Admissions/E-file Registration
‣Choose Eastern District of New York, Attorney Admissions and E-filing.
‣Complete all required fields. **
‣Upload documents listed above.
3. Pay the $226.00 fee when you receive an email from the Court with the payment link.
4. Appear on the date of the hearing with the sponsoring attorney.
Option Two: Reciprocity Admission
Attorneys in good standing in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York
Documents You Will Need:
1. Certificate of Good Standing from Southern District of New York
2. Affidavit in Support of Reciprocity Admission*
What to Do:
1. Log into pacer.uscourts.gov.
‣Go to Manage My Account, Maintenance, Attorney Admission/E-file Registration
‣Choose Eastern District of New York, Attorney Admissions and E-filing.
‣Complete all required fields.
‣Upload documents listed above.
2. Pay the $226.00 fee when you receive an email from the Court with the payment link.
3. Take the oath of office and sign the roll in the EDNY Clerk’s Office.

Pro Hac Vice Admission
Documents You Will Need:
1. Certificates of Good Standing
‣One for each state in which you are admitted
‣Certificates must have been issued within 30 days of filing motion
2. Affidavit of Movant*
3. Motion for leave to appear pro hac vice
What to Do:
1. Apply for an e-filing account at pacer.uscourts.gov.
‣Log in, go to Manage My Account, Maintenance, Attorney Admissions/E-file Registration
‣Choose Eastern District of New York, Pro Hac Vice and complete all required fields.
2. File your motion for leave to appear pro hac vice at https://ecf.nyed.uscourts.gov.
‣When you receive a notification that your e-filing account has been created, log in.
‣File your motion on the relevant case, attaching the documents listed above, and paying the $200.00 fee.

Please Note:
●Attorneys appearing for the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) may appear without requesting pro hac vice admission. DOJ attorneys should make an e-filing request only at pacer.uscourts.gov. If you later enter private practice, however, you will have to apply for regular or pro hac vice admission.
●Attorneys for federal agencies other than the DOJ must request pro hac vice admission but their certificates of good standing may have been issued within one year of filing and the motion fee is waived.
Request for Certificate of Good Standing
Notice to the Bar: As of July 22, 2021, requests for Certificates of Good Standing may be made in person in the Clerk’s Office or on CM/ECF following the below instructions.
Please submit requests for certificates of good standing by e-filing this request form on one of the following miscellaneous case numbers in CM/ECF using the event “Certificate of Good Standing Request and Payment” which is located under Civil>Other Documents.
Your certificate will be emailed to you. When e-filing your request, choose the appropriate filing party, either In Re: BK Certificate of Good Standing Requests (for Brooklyn) or In Re: CI Certificate of Good Standing Requests (for Central Islip).
Do not mail this form! It can ONLY be filed on CM/ECF. Any mailings will be returned to you when possible.
