  • I have a motion and a memo in support to file, do I docket both as motions?

    NO. You can docket the motion and then add the memorandum in support as an attachment or docket the motion and then docket the memorandum in support. Never use the motion events for anything other than a motion.

  • I have to file a Notice of Change(Notice of Change of Address/Firm/Email), is there a court form?

    There is no court form for a Notice of Change of Address/Firm/Email.

  • I made a filing error and I need to edit the docket entry on a case, who do I contact?

    Once a filing has been made, it can only be corrected by an Order from the court.

  • I made a filing error and I need to remove the docket entry from the case, who do I contact?

    Once a filing has been made, it can only be removed by an Order from the court.

  • I need assistance filing on ecf, who do I contact?

    You can contact the docketing department.  For Brooklyn cases (718 613-2610), for Long Island cases (631-712-6010).

  • I noticed that Attorney to be Noticed” is not appearing near the attorney's name and the attorney is not receiving notices, how can this be corrected?

    Please contact the appropriate office where your case is located (718) 613-2610 for Brooklyn and (631) 712-6010 for Central Islip.

  • I receive this error SortDPF failed Seal(entry,silent) when trying to file a sealed entry - why?

    When filing sealed in ecf, you must select a primary event and then select one of the sealed utility events. Example: Rule 56.1 Statement and 1 - Sealed Entry AND Document - to be used ONLY in conjunction with other selection.

  • I received a login page as a result of a link from a Notice of Electronic Filing what does this mean?
    The system prompts customers for a login and password when attempting to view certain types of documents.
    After successful entry of your login, you should be able to view the document. If you receive the message "You do not have permission to view this document," viewing the document is restricted to attorneys of record in the case and the system does not recognize you as such.
    If the login prompt appears again, after you have entered your login and password, it means that the "free look" link has expired. .
  • I received a NEF for an entry but when I click on the pdf, I receive this message "Document Under Seal". Why cannot I see the pdf?

    You cannot see the pdf because it is sealed. Sealed pdfs are only viewable to the court.

  • I received a regenerated email from ecf, does that mean that my filing was refiled?

    No, it means that he the original NEF email was resent/regenerated.

  • I received an email notification that does not provide a hyperlink to the document number. Is this an error?

    No. If there is no pdf for the order. This is sometimes called an "electronic order" or "endorsed order".  The entry (docket text) is the order.

  • I represent multiple parties in a case. How do I select them from the Pick Filer list?
    If all of the parties are listed together you can left click(pc) or command key (mac) to select the name of the first person, continue to hold the left mouse down, then scroll and select all other parties. You can also left click(pc) or command key(mac) to select the name of the first person, hold the shift key and left click(pc) or command key(mac) to select the name of the last person. This will select all parties between the two (2) names.
     
    If the parties are not listed together you can left click(pc) or command key(mac) to select the name of the first person, hold the control key, and continue to left click(pc) or command key (mac) to select the other party names. Once all parties have been selected, you can release the control key.
  • I scanned a pdf and filed it in ecf and I do not see the pdf header, how do I correct this?
    Check the pdf properties, if the page size is not set to 8.5 x 11.0, the pdf header will not display.
    Open pdf in adobe - select - file - print - select adobe printer  - save file.
    Contact the clerks office to replace the pdf in ecf.
     
  • I scanned a pdf and filed it in ecf and now I get an "Out of Memory error" message, how do I correct this?

    ***Check for updates to your scanner software, this may prevent the error from occuring in the future***

    To update previously filed pdfs:

    -Reprint the pdf to pdf, open the pdf in adobe, click File - Print - Select the Printer  - Adobe PDF, click PRINT and save the file. 

    -If reprinting the pdf to pdf does not work, try rescanning the document using a different software package to create the PDF.  
    If the pdf was originally created using a word processor, all you need to do is print to pdf.  

    -If reprinting and scanning does not work, try performing a OCR/Text Recognition on the pdf. 

  • I sometimes get a white screen when I click on a pdf in ecf, how can that be corrected?

    Make sure you have "Include headers when displaying PDF documents" checked on the docket sheet screen.
