Information for Mediators
The Mediation Program at the Federal Court of the Eastern District of New York provides mediation services through a court annexed mediation program. Mediators admitted to the mediation panel are appointed for a three year term, and must be a member of the bar of a state or the District of Columbia for at least five years, and be admitted to practice before the EDNY.
Participation in the mediation program is on a voluntary basis, and each mediator receives a fee of $600.00 for the first four hours or less of the actual mediation. Thereafter, the mediator shall be compensated at a rate of $250.00 per hour. Time spent preparing for the mediation will not be compensated. The mediator’s fee shall be paid by the parties to the mediation.
If requested by the court, each member of the panel shall be required to mediate a maximum of two cases pro bono each year.
